Whats a good brand to buy

I just bought myself a Horse baritone Ukelele, and ill be getting a tenor soon too. The reviews are stellar, full mahogany body and high quality fit and finish, and the price is fantastic. What would you recommend to someone who wants to really become fluent in playing this instrument? Obviously time and effort, but I want to be able to just play spontaniously, what type of learning best gets me going in that direction?

Great video. I restrung my cheap Donner(!) tenor ukulele with the baby baritone strings because I wanted a travel guitarish uke. In standard tenor uke tuning the Donner was unimpressive especially when compared to bigger name tenors... but! when tuned DGBE with the baby baritone strings it came alive! I guess this uke's top is laminate and resonates better with baritone tuning? One note; i had to file the string slot on the bridge for the 4th string to allow a thicker string - it wasn't hard but it is tedious.

I think I have a thing for lower tones, because even in these 'not sounding so good on the baritone uke' examples, I like the baritone versions much better, lol. I have a tenor uke but I'm looking forward to getting a baritone now

I was blessed to play a Kanilea Baritone in Hanalei recently. It was a wonderful experience. As much as I liked it, it is way beyond my means. I also played a Kala at the same store. It is important to realize that the strings make a big difference. The factory strings on the Kala were dead and only served to check intonation. It was not what I was looking for. I ended up getting a MItchell MUB70s. It also had crummy strings but still sounded way better than the Kala that I tried. I put Aquila Red Series AQ-89 strings on it and I love it. Is it as good as a Kanilea? Of course not. Still, I am very satisfied with it and play it almost every day. My Concerts and my Tenors are very jealous. :)

I've tried about all the strings out there on my tenors and I favor the Reds and especially the unwound low G Red. All the other low G strings seem to be too loud IMHO. At least for me! I agree, more rounded tone!

Thank you for a great video! I want a ukulele for my 72nd birthday next month and will try different sizes at my local music store. This will be my first instrument ever (you're never too old to learn)! I plan to buy a concert if it fits OK, because I like the sound much better than the soprano. This video definitely made my decision much easier.

Not usefull at all, nobody tells us how to put our finger on the strings, i strum with my nail and it sounds awful so im assuming im doing it wrong, so nails or not? And also what position the index finger has to have to sound good? Also when i strum up my finger gets caught in the strings

i love your videos, they’re so helpful i’m trying to figure out the difference between baritone ukulele, guitar leek and the 3/4 travel size guitar 1. i have smalllll hands 2. i don’t want such a high sounding string instrument for what music im wanting to make 3. i have a standard size acoustic guitar that was my sisters. don’t want the beautiful instrument to go to waste. but i can’t play it. but maybe one day i could if i get my fingers more use to it. so…. idk 🤷🏼‍♀️ idk the difference between guitarlele and the 3/4 guitar maybe i’m missing a video 😬 help 😅

I have the Flame Maple FM Concert and the Quilted maple blue tenor - great ukes! I switched to the quilted maple tenor as i prefer the tenor size!
